Files, Folders and Finding Things, Part I
Is getting organized among your resolutions for the new year? Or maybe you are just tired of looking for files you have saved on your computer . . . somewhere? Files, Folders and Finding Things, a single-session UW-Richland Continuing Education computer course open to all interested people, is designed to teach you the skills you need to manage your information more effectively. Two levels are available and two day/time sessions of each of those are offered, to make it more convenient for you to learn.
In Part I of Files, Folders and Finding Things, you will learn how to create, rename, copy and move folders, as well as to save files to a new folder. It is the electronic equivalent of the manila folder and just as easy to use once you know how. You will learn to use a USB flash drive, a small, handy way to carry your folders and files, a briefcase smaller than a pack of gum. And, in order to find your files in the first place, you will learn an easy method of searching that can save you time. Cost for the course is $24 per person. If you prefer daytime, sign up for the 9-11am session on Tuesday, March 6.
Why stop there? Advance your organizational skills further by taking Part II of Files, Folders and Finding Things, open to those who have completed Part I. You will learn how what file extensions are and what they mean; how to open files in various programs; how to burn files to a CD. You will also learn and practice using Windows Explorer to move files quickly from one location to another. Cost for this course is $29. An evening session is scheduled for 5:30-8pm Thursday, February 2. If you prefer daytime, sign up for the 9-11:30am session on Tuesday, March 13.
Advance registration is necessary. If you register for both, you will be eligible for a 5% discount. You can sign up and pay conveniently online at richland.uwc.edu/ce or call 608-647-6186, Ext. 227 to enroll. Classes meet in room 211 of the UW-Richland Classroom Building, located at 1200 Hwy 14W in Richland Center. |
