On April 17, 2010, Jim
DeVitas In Acting Shakespeare will be presented
by Richland County Performing Arts Council, Inc. (RCPAC)
in the Richland Center
City Auditorium. The one-man show is written
and performed by DeVita, a member of the American
Players Theatre (APT), where the play was originally
performed to sell-out audiences. The two-act play
tells the story of DeVitas path from Long Island,
New York to the classical stage at APT. It explores
his decision to leave fishing to become an actor and
is filled with personal stories, humor, and insight.
In Acting Shakespeare
is adapted from the play Acting Shakespeare with
the permission of Sir Ian McKellen. The April
performance serves as a fundraiser for the City
Auditorium restoration project. The auditorium is
slated to begin the first of a four-phased
restoration project designed to keep the building
the cultural and educational center it was designed
to be. DeVita is excited to perform in the
historic, intimate theatre and is delighted to help
RCPAC in the restoration project.
Show time is 730pm,
Saturday April 17. Tickets are $12 for adults and
$10 for students and seniors and are available
exclusively at Auditorium Antiques. Seating is
