Larry
Huffmann started The Frame Corner & Gallery, but in the
early days it was known as Peddlers Alley. It was on
Court Street, just down the block where Nelsons
Photography is now located. The business was half
antiques and framing, and half photography by Judy
Coopey. Larry moved Peddlers Alley to its current
location 26 years ago and thats when he renamed it The
Frame Corner & Gallery. Later, when he decided to move
to New Mexico he encouraged Minda Barber to buy the
gallery because he thought shed be good at the framing
business. Minda thought about it for a while, sold her
other business (MJs Trophies), and took over The Frame
Corner & Gallery in July of 1995. She attended Larson
Juhl Framing School in Chicago to learn the skills and
techniques shed need and found she had a real talent
for framing. |
 |
| After ten years, Minda says she still
absolutely loves the business. Its a good solid
business. I like the building its in, the atmosphere
here, and even the floor in the shop is great. People
stop in all the time to visit with her and Sami, her
Shiz-Tzu, who has become a well-known personality in the
downtown. |
|
 |
Among the items in her
store, Minda displays the works of some local artists,
does custom framing, and sells many gifts and
collectables. She also makes shadow boxes for
collectors. One
thing that Minda stresses is that artwork is valuable;
it needs to be kept in good shape to preserve its value,
and that needs to be managed properly. Every work of art
needs to be framed and preserved as if it was going to
be placed in a museum. |
|
Minda uses acid free
products for backing and matting materials and the best
glass to keep the art from fading. More and more people
are having family photos and heirlooms framed to put on
display, and to safeguard precious family treasures for
future generations she takes special care to make sure
that they are properly preserved. |
 |
|
The Frame Corner sells prints, limited edition prints,
and numbered limited edition prints. Once the limited
number of prints is printed, the etching is destroyed so
that the value of the work remains and continues to
increase in value over time. She also carries
autographed sports memorabilia, which generally
increases in value as well. |
|
Minda invites you to stop by her store to shop or browse
any time. |

& Gallery is a member of the Richland Area Chamber of
