| Ours is
a unique and unforgettable landscape.
The Ocooch Mountains or "Spirit Mountains," with
their high ridges and unexpected rock
outcroppings, were sacred ground to the
Indians. Creeks and trout streams rush
through these hidden valleys, laced with
deep maple and pine forests and filled
with birds and wildlife. The Wisconsin
River runs for 100 uninterrupted miles
to the great Mississippi at Prairie du Chien.
Learn
about our rich
history
that follows a central
agriculture theme, including cheese and dairy
products, lumber mills, and the
railroad. Explore the back roads (watch
for deer, wild turkeys and eagles!), the
limestone bluffs and expansive vistas -
the very heart of southwest Wisconsin.
There
are plenty of
things to do.
Recreation in Richland
County is a natural. Travel the winding
back roads and discover beautiful
scenery and unique
places to see. Come on over for one
of our outstanding
annual events. We have everything
from the spring home and recreation show,
known as "Country Living Showcase," to
the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Finals.
Purple
Heart Day for Wisconsin is held at our
flag park, and we host the Richland
County Fair. An outstanding country and
western music event - Star Spangled
Celebration - is jam-packed with
national talent. Our "Old Fashioned 4th
of July Celebration" and fireworks
display is fun for the whole family, as
is Center Color Fiesta - a fall festival
that is topped off each year with a nighttime illuminated
parade.
Mark your
calendars. Come on over and enjoy our
hospitality! |
